Information.

• Barbara Campbell is often mentioned as the writer of this song, but this was to prevent Art Rupe of Specialty Records to get the royalties of this song, since Sam was still under contract with Rupe. By making Campbell the author she (and as she was Sam's wife) would get the royalties
• he wrote the lyrics in a few minutes while he was at a party thrown by Lou Rawls' mother and everyone was doing the cha cha. A niece shouted out 'Everbody Cha Cha Cha' and the title was born. Sam wrote the lyrics in about 5 minutes.
• Sam performed this song live on TV on two occasions: once during Dick Clarke's 'Beech-Nut Show' and also in the George Klein show 'Talent Party', during this performace Jackie Wilson joined in and you can see it on YouTube. It was lip-sync so you don't hear them sing.
